It's ok to have thoughts

My friend said, "I am not able to meditate, I have too many thoughts."


Don't carry the idea that you need to have no thoughts to go into meditation. Those people who have no thoughts there is no need for them to sit and meditate. They are already in a meditative state.


It's very normal for a person to have thoughts, that's the function of the mind.


Meditation is to sit quietly and simply watch. Watch your breath, watch your thoughts (if any) and whatever sensation you have. Simply watch without analyzing and judging, no craving, no aversion. When you catch yourself in your thoughts, simply come back to your breath again. It's ok to have thoughts. Be kind to yourself.


Don't criticize. Don't compare.


Simply be there in the moment.

Be watchful.

朋友說:”我沒辦法靜坐,我太多雜念了。”


千萬不要誤會,不是沒有雜念的人才能夠靜坐。一個沒有雜念的人,他根本無需靜坐,因為他每一刻已活在當下,每一刻也在一個冥想的境界中。


我們要接納我們有雜念這個狀況,這是很正常的,這是頭腦慣常的運作嘛。

靜坐,是靜靜的坐下來,好像一個第三者一樣,看着自己的呼吸,看着思緒的來來去去及身體的任何感覺。就只是看着,沒有分析,沒有批判,沒有貪愛,沒有討厭。當你發覺自己不自覺陷入了思緒中時,便又再把注意力帶回你的呼吸上。被思緒帶走了是沒問題的,不要批判自己,沒有什麼成功不成功,好與不好。

接納一切,不批判,不比較。


純粹看着那當下。
